I’ve been thinking about my greatest inspirations lately, the reason I do things the way I do. When someone asks you who your greatest inspiration is who do you automatically think of? Someone famous, someone who has a well-known quote, known for some sort of movement? It’s okay, no one is judging you, we all do it. With some big changes coming in my family, I thought I’d tell you guys a little something about my greatest inspirations and supporters – my parents!
Ever since we found out we were expecting I’ve had a whole new appreciation for my parents, specifically my mother. The changes a mother’s body goes through during pregnancy is insane. It’s amazing and uncomfortable, frustrating and a little annoying at times. Those 9 months are filled with worrying and wondering. That unconditional love, that everyone talks about starts as soon as you find out that little baby is growing inside you. My parents have shown me that love since day one and they continue to do so today. I just hope I can show my little ones that same unconditional love the same way that they have. I’m going to rave about them a little bit. My mother – the kindest, most giving person in the entire world. If you met her, you’d understand, she thinks of everyone before herself. No matter how many times people walk all over her she keeps doing it. She has taught me to think of others first and to always be kind – no matter what. My dad taught me the most important thing, how a girl should be treated. He treated my mom like a queen from the first moment I can remember. He does it in everything he does. I can’t even describe it, but I knew that was what I wanted when I got married. A hardworking, self-sacrificing man; so that is what I found. My parents taught me what it’s like to be a daughter of God. If I have a daughter one day, I just hope to teach her that as well as they did. My parents taught me to work hard, smart and right. They taught me to believe in myself always and to trust God. They are my biggest supporters, through my crazy ideas and failed attempts they have never doubted that I could accomplish whatever I put my mind to. From one crazy plan to the next they have stuck by me and supported me in any way I needed. The sacrifices my parents have made for my brother and I are indescribable. The long hours they worked in order to supply for us and to provide us those privileges that most people don’t get. I just can’t say enough about how amazing they are.
So this post is for you guys.
Mom and Dad, if you’re reading this (which you probably are, because you always see whatever it is I’m dong), I LOVE YOU! And I appreciate you guys more than I could ever show you! You guys are my greatest inspirations and my favorite people. Your love and support are what pushes me every day to be the best I can be. I’m so happy my son will have you guys as grandparents, to help me teach him all you taught me! I just hope I can show him the love and support you’ve shown me. You guys inspire me to laugh more, love more, live more and to be more. You guys encourage me every day to live courageously, you are a huge part of why I started this blog. I want others to be encouraged to Courageously Navigate Life, the same way you encourage me. As for you followers out there, thanks for sticking with me so far in this blogging journey. I hope you guys stick around. Some things in the Paterson household are about to get crazy. This baby isn’t here yet, and I’m already on my toes, I can just imagine what’s next on this journey that is beginning. If you aren’t the greatest with words, share this post with your parents, hopefully, my words can help you tell your parents how much they mean to you. Call your mom, send your dad a text, just do something to tell them you are thinking of them and you love them! If you have any ideas about different ways to show them your appreciation let me know in the comments. Live Courageously, love Crystal
